A note on costumes: Costumes are worn at Purim as a reminder of how God concealed Himself in the deliverance of the Children of Israel from the wicked scheme of Haman. Though He is not mentioned in the book of Esther, He was active and the very source of their deliverance. Because He concealed Himself, we conceal ourselves with the costume. Costumes can be of Biblical characters or other themes. However, we do ask that costume choices be tasteful, with nothing scary or inappropriate.
