A New Birth

A New Birth

Parashat Bo

The story of Passover and the Exodus reveals God’s masterful plan for redemption and new beginnings. By establishing a new calendar for Israel and setting Passover in the first month, God demonstrated His power to completely transform and give new identity to His people. The blood of the Passover lamb on the doorposts served as both protection and a powerful symbol of redemption, pointing to the ultimate sacrifice that would bring spiritual freedom. The concept of the firstborn plays a crucial role in this redemptive narrative, representing those chosen for God’s purpose rather than mere birth order. Israel’s position as God’s firstborn among nations, and Christ as the ultimate firstborn, perfectly representing the Father, illustrates the depth of this spiritual truth. This central story continues to teach that true freedom comes through humble submission to God’s plan, and genuine transformation must start from within.
