Parashat Vayishlach
Does deliverance or redemption appear too difficult in our sight? Nothing is impossible with God. He makes a way when there is no way!
In this week’s portion we see a picture of the end of exile and the process of redemption as Jacob returns to the Land that was promised to him and his descendants. He has been pursued, and now he is facing another challenge head on as his brother comes to confront him.
Though he knows God is with him, he does not know how it will all unfold. Through the challenges, Jacob remains strong – seeking reconciliation, praying and even wrestling with an angel through the night such that he might overcome!
Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘Old men and old women will again sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each man with his staff in his hand because of age. And the streets of the city will be filled with boys and girls playing in its streets.’ Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘If it is too difficult in the sight of the remnant of this people in those days, will it also be too difficult in My sight?’ declares the Lord of hosts.”
