Parashat Shemot
God’s intimate relationship with His people is powerfully demonstrated in Exodus, beginning with His recounting the names of Jacob’s sons entering Egypt. Through the Israelites’ suffering in Egypt, God demonstrates His personal involvement by hearing their groans, seeing their affliction, and intimately knowing their pain. The burning bush encounter further reveals God’s personal nature as He calls Moses by name and promises His presence. This divine pattern shows that God isn’t a distant deity but one who knows each person intimately and responds to their needs with compassion and action.
