Parashat Va’era
The Children of Israel who had believed Moses came to deliver them had lost hope when Pharaoh increased their burdens rather than letting them go. They were left physically and spiritually beaten down, and their hopes dashed.
Dashed hopes can be devastating. Perhaps that’s what makes pessimism attractive…
But pessimism is not what we, as Children of God are called to fall into. We’re to dare to believe. We are to look into the Coming Kingdom, to listen to what the Spirit of the Lord declares, and to call forth that which will be – that which can be – and see the great salvation of the Lord!
God’s promise hasn’t failed. He’s still at work, bringing all things into alignment to bring a miraculous salvation so that all the world will know that He is the One True God.
For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord, “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”
