Not to the Right or to the Left

Not to the Right or to the Left

Parashat Va’etchanan

It is God’s desire to comfort His people. To receive comfort, we must come to the Comforter through faith and repentance.

God has given us His commandments as a blessing and for our good. When we stray to the right or to the left, God brings calls us back to right relationship with Him by various means – one of which is through the voice of prophets and teachers.

We are warned in the Scriptures to beware false prophets and false teachers, for they will not point us back to covenant faithfulness – which is one of the tests of who is a faithful prophet (Deuteronomy 13).

We must become equipped to discern the word of truth by the Spirit, by the Scriptures and with the help of community so that we may walk in faithfulness toward God, not straying to the right or to the left!

Oh that they had such a heart as this always, to fear me and to keep all my commandments, that it might go well with them and with their descendants forever!

Deuteronomy 5:29
