What Are We Preparing For?

What Are We Preparing For?

Parashat Bamidbar

In the second year of the Children of Israel being in the wilderness, God is preparing them to set out for the Promised Land.

They are instructed to camp around the Tabernacle, with their tents facing it, keeping God always at the center of their lives with their eyes on Him. For God will provide all they need.

God knows what we need, and He has given that to us through His Word and His Spirit, which were both given at Shavuot (Pentecost). In the season of Shavuot, God fulfills the fourth statement of redemption – that He will take the Children of Israel as a people and be God to them.

He has given us all we need for life and godliness, equipping us for the journey and calling that He has set before us!

Lift up your heads, O gates! and lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory!

psalm 24:9-10
