Parashat Lech Lecha
The LORD said to Abram, “Lech lecha…”, which means go for yourself, or for your own benefit. The challenge with this was that Abram had to leave his land, his relatives and his family. That may not have felt much like he was doing it for himself.
But Abram had to leave behind what was dear to him so he could take hold of the blessings God had prepared for him. Abram had to choose to believe that what God said was good for him really was good for him. Then he had to go, both for himself and for a higher purpose.
By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he left, not knowing where he was going.”
